Lots of people use them - but I don't know...

I actually have a set of set of steel wheels from a TR7 - which are 4x96 and use larger studs - they fit on the Haflinger wheel hubs nicely with the smaller m10 studs right against the outside edge of the hole. I did some very minor clearancing of the center hole and they are now hubcentric too. I used them with plain flange nuts but have considered using wobble nuts with them also. The holes are not countersunk at all.

As the Haf is low speed, it shouldn't be too much of a problem as long as you regularly check them for tightness. Are your wobble nuts, flat or conical where they touch the wheel holes? Flat would be better if your wheels do not have countersinks on the holes.

Is your safety not worth doing it right? Not to mention that if anything goes wrong and someone else is injured (especially your little mechanic's helper).

Going from 98mm to 100mm with wobble nuts on a Haflinger would be fine - now I would not consider on something like a Corvette or Ferrari but on a Haflinger no issues.

Just make sure the shape/contour of the wobble nit matches the wheel hole. I bought a set of 12" Minilites that I thought were 100mm and use wobble nuts but they turned out to be 110mm so too big. I could redrill the rims but am going to use wheel adapators and widen the track a little which will improve stability and not load the hubs too much.
