Distributor/timing from scratch, help

I removed my distributor without checking rotor position. How do I start from scratch and reinstall? What should the timing be set? I have a Pertronix that was running great but a screw fell out of the mounting plate and locked up the distributor- sheering the 3mmx20 pin holding the gear.

Left cyl on TDC gives the mark on the double v pully standing against the mark on the coolerfan housing. Open the distributor and the finger should point about 6 a 7 mm before the mark on the distributor ( mark on top ) .
