Over the past two years, there has been discussion about a New Haflinger being produced by KTM. The most recent information I have read is that KTM plans to debut the vehicle in the 2010 Dakar rally. With the current popularity of the side-by-side offerings from the various ATV manufacturers, re-introduction of a newer rendition of the classic Haflinger would be quite welcome.
One's imagination can run wild considering all sorts of powerplant options as well as less rust prone body materials. The little trucks were definitely ahead of their time. I hope that any new offering bearing the Haflinger name will remain a forward control design.
