Haffy on tracks
I am looking for an off road vehicle that is better built than the modern 6 wheelers. I am considering a Haflinger but in the spring I need something I can put on the aftermarket tracks. Has anyone ever put aftermarket tracks on one and if so where did you get them? Has anyone put tracks on a 710? thanks Steve

Re: Haffy on tracks
There is also a video somewhere on YouTube of a Pinz with track system.
However, these tracks on a Haflinger are a recipe for disaster. Notice in the video that the motor is revving very high as there is barely enough power to move this much equipment. Also, stay tuned for an ad from the owner desperately seeking new hub gear housings and shafts as his originals will self destruct quickly with this much torsional load.
By the look of the amount of track spin shown in the video I'd say that a Haf with original Semperit tires handles the snow better than these tracks.
Cheers,
Steve

I am not sure what your idea is of a "modern" 6 wheeler, as most are 'toys'.
In the " other 4x4 section", there are 3 (OT) threads on Supacat ATMPs.
Not knowing what and where you plan for it, I could only guess if one is useable for you.
Even at 4200 lbs, they are still faster on the road than 99% of the Haffies (even while carrying a loaded Haf )
And swim with a reduced payload cap (900 lbs)

I suspect that Steve is right, these are probably very hard on the axles. But the reving comes partially from the much smaller diameter drive wheel (about half the diameter of a normal road wheel so the tracks basically cut the top speed of each gear in half) and partially from the right foot having fun!

Cubdriver55 was looking for something "better built" than the typical 6 wheelers with their over sized lawn mower engines... I had even thought about getting a Centuar at one time.... a very short time

6x6?? Why not just buy a snow-cat? Mine's 10x10 with tracks. Okay, 10x2 with tracks...
