Oil filter seal

Post by westernair »

Ok had a leak coming from the oil filter. Took the metal cap off and determined it was the seal. When going to grab a replacement from a new filter I notice it is extremely thinner and paper not rubber. The original one is maybe .150" thick rubber and the replacement Is at best .050" paper. I know that it is specked for a Mann c8246 but I can only get Baldwin p106-hd filters locally
So my question is can I use the thin paper one, do need to order a Mann hoping it has the correct one or do I have to find a replacement seal by its self.
Here are a few pics

Shawn,
My cross-references for the cartridge-type Haflinger oil filters are as follows:

Mann H 601
Mahle OX 42
NAPA Gold 1314

Of the three, only the NAPA filter comes equipped with the large flat O-ring you are trying to source.

Hope this helps.

Take care.
