710/712 Transfer case into 718

Hey guys, hope everyone is going well.

I was wondering, as I have never seen one in person, is the 710/712 transfer case design the same as the 716/718? I know all of the ratios are different, but is the case used identical between all 3?

Is the correct high range ratio for the 716/718 transfer case 1.061?

Thank for the info!

Simple, The t cases are not interchangeable between gas and diesel Pinzes.
The 710/12 and the 716/18 are mirrored in mounting.

David,

Thank you for the info! I figured you would know.

Any idea if the gears can swap between them? Is it a perfect mirror image on the case using the same style gears?

Thanks
Tyler

I would doubt it, but don't know for sure. In the 710/ 12 case, it is drilled for a different
Shaft placement for the different ratio. .88 or 1.00

David,

Do you know if the 716 and 718 have the same transfer case? Everything I have seen doesnt list anything different between the two, but I wanted to see if there was contradictory information.

Unlike the gas Pinzes, the 716 and 718 share the same transfer case and gearing. There was an optional lower transfer case for the 718s, but supposedly never ordered in any truck.

Been wondering the opposite for a while now... can a 716/718 transfer case be swapped into a 712, will it bolt up should one want the driveline on the LHS of a 710/712 backbone?
This would widen the potential engine choices when considering diesel conversions on petrol Pinzgauers as well as give more suitable final drive ratios for diesel.

They cannot be exchanged either way..
The input shaft on the t cases are on opposite sides of the central tubes for gas and the TDs.
