It's a common problem with the D24 Engine for the camshaft to break.

Number of reasons why that happens so my advice when you get a Pinzgauer with this engine fitted is :-

1/ Replace timing belt
2/ Replace bottom toothed pulley behind the crankshaft pulley
3/ Replace rear injection pump belt
4/ Replace the water pump and idler


If you basically replace the above it should stop you having some major engine problems. These engines are an interference fit so if the belt goes so does your pistons and valves (unless you get lucky)
