34" tires on a 712

How bad were your original springs? Did you just replace with new factory springs?

Just trying to figure out what rubber to put on my new rims!!!!!!!

Where and how were the 33's rubbing?

Is it because of the width of the tire?

I've got 295/75R16s (theoretically 11.6" wide, 33.4" dia.) on my 712W, and I get a slight rub at the front of the passenger tire since that axle is 30mm farther forward than the drivers side. I do have new, heavier springs on it as well. I can see that even this size is too wide for my taste especially if you do any hard core wheeling (I don't with this truck). IMHO, if you really want the diameter you ought to stay with narrower tires; or if you want the width for flotation (steering becomes a bugger with wide tires, too) then I wouldn't go above 33" diameter. Pick your poison.

Thanks Jim! I think I will stick to 33's then and I am not going to beat this ride with heavy hard core wheeling so I wont mind a itty bitty rub ! If I want to beat something to death I will buy a beater!

So do you think 33x12.50R17LT will be OK?

I guess it depends on what your rims are like (for offset and width). I've got the "standard" 8" custom rims that were made with the stock center, but new rim portion. I don't know what the offset really is, but most of the rim width increase appears to be on the outside I don't get any rubbing at steering lock with these (with no hard articulation, anyway).

If you have similar rim ofsets I would expect you to be OK.

So it look's like a narow 34' tire will work . The Interco Super Swamper # sam 21 is 34" x 9" on a 16" rim .

I installed radial TSL swampers this past winter. Just got 'em dirty 2 days ago, and even with the spring dampness, I'm climbing hills I couldn't do last summer. (Of course my old tires were a bit long-in-the-tooth) These tires rock.

Great choice in tires, I am on my 3rd set and love them (265/80R16's), cost a lot less than wrangler mtr's or BFG's and so much more traction, 2 weeks ago I was sent out on a vehicle rescue by the forest service, it was a 09 GMC 3500 lifted with huge tires and weighing over 8,000lbs stuck in slushy/muddy snow about 2 feet deep, very high sentered, i pulled up behind him hooked up my strap and got him out in 3 shorts snaps, even in the sloppy conditions I had lots of traction, but deeper snow did eventually boog him down so even I couldnt get him out till early the next morning when the snow and mud were frozen, I love these tires though I might change to a LT size for my next set.

Ooooooooooo. Based on advice I received from a long time pinz person, I ordered interco trXus 33 x 12.5 x R17's today to go on the custom aluminum rims of my 710K. Hopefully there were be NO rubbing or issues.
