Finished Gas Tank Install!

Post by MadMax »

Finally got a break in the weather so I could put the tank back in! No more leak, no more damage, no more crap hardware/hoses and added a 2nd fuel filter coming off the tank.

This is the damaged area with the solder repair primed and undercoated with 3M 0881 undercoating (awesome stuff). It is definitely not pretty, but I sealed the hose outlets, pumped a few pounds of air pressure into it with the compressor, and then checked all the repair areas with soapy water - no bubbles!

Lots of small and large repair and restoration areas on this project, all from trapping water against metal. The repairs should never have been needed - it was simply the result of piss-poor maintenance and really bad judgement.

...and really bad judgement.
Remember, good judgement comes from experience, and most experience comes from bad judgment! Unfortunately, you (and not the one who created the problem) learned from the experience. On the other hand that is a good thing.
