Fat Fabrications westward bound.

Post by Andre »

We're loaded up and leaving East Texas tonight. Anyone looking to get their vehicle serviced or assessed for repairs should reach out to me here, at my Email address, or on my Facebook page. If I don't get to visit with you on the way west, we can schedule service on the way back from SoCal.

I've got lots to do here at home so this will be a no nonsense, git-er-done, turn around trip. Please schedule with me early to ensure being seen.

Any chance you'll be swinging up through the PNW, Portland specifically?

Just west of Phoenix now. Got at least a week of work to handle in SoCal. No new jobs have popped up yet.

We've off loaded our gear and products and are making a run north to Expedition Imports and delivering a trailer. We should be returning in time for king of the hammers this weekend.

Break down! Never a dull moment. So yesterday afternoon, while running N on I-5 towards Frisco, we loose a front wheel bearing. Fortunately we were near a pull out and got off the road without trading paint or a bunch of sparks and grinding drama.
Here's the fun part. We get our tool kit and jack and take it apart after "field modifying" a few tools to get things off. It's now 4 pm and none of the parts houses in the nearest town have the wheel bearing asby in stock. Soonest one can be available is 11 am the next day.
After weighing our options and budget limitations, we decide to spend the night in the truck. We have leftovers in the cooler, a gallon of water, plenty of fuel, and we can keep the tools secured.
It's now morning and we are in need of a ride into town. Uber driver is unavailable. Don't know if this town has a taxi service. It's now cold, windy, and raining so walking is out.
We have $ to get the parts and tools we need to put everything back together. Just need to source a ride.
Will keep you posted as things develop.

Sorry to hear that, problems on the road away from your support base are never fun. Wheel bearing on the truck? That's a random one. I keep an extra hub assembly for all our trailers in the tool box for that reason. Haven't had to use one yet...
