Proposed 1k fine for vehicles over 20 years old in Oregon

Despite what is being publicized this is not dead yet. It can be resurrected with no notice at any point of the legislative season, so I encourage everyone to stay vigilant. It can also be repackaged in a new bill with new name and number. Also, stay active, write and call your legislators often.

It appears to be dead AT THIS TIME, but who knows if it will ever re-emerge...

They seemed about as messed up as CA. in some ways. I was just up there for some work and not only could I not pump my own fuel (wtf?), but Portland, which has some LA like traffic at times, refused to salt their ice covered roads because it might damage... plants.? I saw at least two big accidents, a flipped over van, two jack-knifed 18-wheelers and dozens of cars in ditches within a couple hours during their snow 'storm'.
I have video footage of West Virginia in the spring. Maybe the 7 foot tall weeds in the heavily salted highway ditches will convince them otherwise. Oh wait, nevermind!
Imagine how they will react the next time one of those volcanoes goes off. Maybe they can install giant catalytic convertors on them.

Can't think of much that would be considered "classic" built in 1997
Funny, I just retired my 96' 328 BM'er with 300K on it. Thought is was time
for an upgrade, but it never occurred to me that was an obsolete car. Goes
to show you how lame this idea really is -- other than to milk the cow, again!
Hmmm, that BM'er engine was good for at least another 200K miles, but
everything else was wearing out, rubbers, flooring, dead radio and A/C.
Maybe I should have kelpt it

My everyday car was an 81' 300D diesel mercedes. I stopped driving it because the seat fell through the rusted out floor one day. It still ran fine. Hopefully someone put that 617 motor to good use.

just another way to keep poor folks poor. Tax them on the items they can afford. the classic cars or cars that are maintained well enough to still be in good condition after 20 years are not owned by the majority. Our government hard at work trying to make sure that folks don't have enough money to survive and have to rely on the government for support.

That's an interesting side note Vince. My son has an 85 300TDT in excellent condition but his back seat floor had rusted through as well. He attributed it to a roof drain tube that runs down through the B pillar that was plugged, letting water soak underneath the carpet. He replaced the floor pans recently.VinceAtReal4x4s wrote:My everyday car was an 81' 300D diesel mercedes. I stopped driving it because the seat fell through the rusted out floor one day. BTW, he lives in Portland and would be subject to this fine.
