I'm trying to build up a new mobile tool kit because I keep spreading what I have between my main tool box and the one I keep in the rig, which has caused me leave on a 4x4 trip without some of my sockets before. I'm tired of the swapping around thing and need to finally establish a truck-only kit.
In a perfect world it'd be a basic Snap-on or Mac socket and combo wrench set but that's out of my range. I have owned Craftsmen's upper-end stuff (they make a lot of cheaper versions of their tools these days). I could go that route but have run into SK a lot and prices aren't bad, plus they actually make their tools in the US! I just haven't used them before and thought it might be a good candidate.

Re: Opinion on SK tools?
I had a 3/8" SK socket set YEARS ago, and it seemed to work well. Unfortunately, some scrote in Appleton stole all my tools, including the SK set, so I can't give you any long-term feedback.

I have a fair number of SK tools. Within the past year or so I broke a 1/2 2 inch long extension. Not fault of tool. It took me a bit to get it replaced but I did get a replacement one. I think Stanley might own them now.
To be honest I hate to give HF my money but the replacement policy is much more hassle free.

Re: Opinion on SK tools?
I bought my first SK 3/8" ratchet set when gas was $0.35 a gallon
I still have that set. The question would be has quality stayed where
it was over the years -- dono.
For my truck, rather than spend a ton, I went the Harbor Freight route.
Set of Metric and SAE 3/8" and 1/2". Decent breaker bar also used for
Lug nuts. For the larger Metric sizes I bought a set of impact sockets,
the chrome sets didn't go up to 27mm. I figured, overall this was a
cheaper. These tools arn't used much and they permanently live in the

And, once you get a pile of tools together, then you need a place to put them.
Found this canvas Bag on Amazon, which has several compartments. I have two
and both are chuck full.

Then I got these small pouches for sockets, drivers, etc. rather than have a big heap at the bottom of the bag.
