The pneumatic mast is a 7.5 meter Clark QT series mast. It is hooked up to a nice electric tire compressor. It only needs 13 PSI and takes 25/30 seconds to lift to full height. In the front black PVC tubes are an Ed Fong antenna and misc HAM stuff that attach to the mast. It is a great mast from the early 90's. I found loads of info on these from the net. I got the mast from Scott @Expedition Imports. It came off of one of the vehicles he brought from the EU.

When not killing zombies, I use the vehicle with the Carlsbad, CA CERT Auxcom group. When deployed I have 2 xtra cans of fuel and can charge a remote 100 amp battery via an Epic PWRgate from West Mountain Radio via the stock alternator. Eventually I will add a solar panel (or two) to it. If city communications really go bad, the vehicle can easily go up and over the freeway, down the other side, and to the top of a nearby hill. From that hill, with the mast, we have complete coverage via simplex of the city.

Here is a picture of it deployed before installation into the Pinz.

Thanks as well !! I'm always looking for better antenna solutions.
Currently my HF antenna is a Shakespeare AT-1011 30' whip. In 4'
sections so a bit of a PITA to deploy.
