Yep! Amazing what can be underneath 30 years of ugly old paint and dirt!

Here's a pic of the next one I'm working on.... it'll look a little different soon. :D

I'm kinda proud of this build. (on another 4x4, not pInz or Volvo) The winch is a 1990 Warn MX8000 put onto a custom winch plate that I designed, which was cut out on a CNC plasma table. The hook is a new Factor 55 Flatlink Expert model, matched to the paint. I did a custom ABS box for the contactor and made wires, then placed the commercial-grade Lodar wireless receiver near it, mounted and hidden away on top of the skid-plate.

The before pic is how it looked when I got it. It was buried in some old pick-up truck bumper.

Finished up a 1978 Warn 8274 winch last week. This one is going onto an old Toyota truck so not as exciting as some other applications but the winch itself was a major transformation. It got a new heavy duty motor with twice the hp as the original! Plus 130ft of Dyneema rope and a contactor upgrade. Should last another 40 years.

Another full build where I took a pile of parts that once made a 1980's 12v Warn winch, and turned it into a modern 24v version. This just went out to a forum member. I spent more time on this one than any other so far. Unfortunately the price to do this kind of thing again will have to increase by $200 due to almost breaking even on this one!

A rare hook restoration from a German/Austrian made winch that was available for the VW Syncro van for a short time in the 80's. The winch is extremely rare and the hook's color was very specific so I restored it back to the correct shade.

Just finished a rare Ramsey 9000 (now a 9500 with upgraded motor). This one is for sale but it's a 12v model. Not a flawless finish but its mechanically perfect! Made in Oklahoma.

I'll say it's not perfect! That shade of blue on the Ramsey logo is off by 1/10'th of a shade :DD

Ramsey's are my go to winch these days and I gotta say this one looks like it just rolled off the
assembly line in OK :D

Great work. I’ll be referring my customers to you first for their winch needs. You know the difference between quality and Chinese crap. Worth the efforts and expenses. Bravo Zulu.

I'm a good ways into a Warn 24v XD9000i build for a Pinz owner. Just wanted to show the pile of parts I started with. Upgrades include a new 24v Warn motor and USA made 3/8" Dyneema rope (breaking strength over 18,000lbs!) This one will be done very soon.

Time to make some new terminals while I wait on parts.

Jumping over most of the the hard work... the new 24v motor came in and parts are improving their look. The internal wiring is getting addressed along with a couple new solenoids. New motor shaft bearing pressed in.

Drum is all cleaned up and a new drum support are going together with fresh grease that should smear all over that bushing (in a good way).

The final pic will be posted soon!

Part2: It's done! Fully serviced, upgraded and converted to 24v. This should serve many years. ((Keeping these covered when parked/stored and not overheating the motor is the main two ways to keep them lasting))

Fourwheeler magazine has a new article about the top winches (new and used) and guess what!? Not a single Chinese brand on the list. Someone finally did a legitimate piece of journalism!
