Translation help

Post by IA712 »

Can anyone help with some translations from the vehicle identification plates? This is a continuation of the requirement of our DMV to issue a new VIN for my Pinzgauer 712AMB. The total GVW seems too light for a 712. Here is the info from the plate by the driver's seat:

zulass. vorderachslast kg . . . . . 1500
zulass. hinterachslast kg. . . . . . 2600
zulass. gesamtgewicht kg . . . . . 3500

I would guess that this would be front axle, rear axles, total.

The plate on the door reads:

Leergewicht kg . . . . . 2850
Gesamtgewicht kg. . . 3500

I would assume that this would be curb weight and GVW - again awfully light. The operators' manual says the "permissible total weight" for a 712 is 3900 kg - 4200 kg depending on model.

Thanks for any help,
Lloyd

zulass. vorderachslast kg . . . . . 1500 = max front axle weight
zulass. hinterachslast kg. . . . . . 2600 = max rear axle weight
zulass. gesamtgewicht kg . . . . . 3500 = max total weight

Leergewicht kg . . . . . 2850 = weight of empty truck
Gesamtgewicht kg. . . 3500 = total weight

Thanks for the translation Gunnar.

Still seems odd that the 712AMB has a GVW of 3500 kg while the 712M is 3900 kg. Lighter springs or compliance with some EU maximums? What are the front and rear axle ratings of a 712M?

OK, just checked a 712M for axle ratings. It had exactly the same front and rear axle load ratings as the 712AMB (1500 kg and 2600 kg) but had a much higher GVW (4000 kg vs. 3500 kg). I still suspect there may be some European weight restrictions affecting either road access or licensing requirements for vehicles exceeding 3500 kg GVW.
