Running a Little Lean
I think the motor might have been running a little hot!

Come on Jim, you remember the CARB NOX kits of the 70's..... it raised the engine temps, oh so slightly, to complete the combustion of unburnt fuel before it exited the tail pipe.
From that pic, the kit did everything CARB wanted it to..... eliminate unburnt fuel into the air, AND get gross poluters off the road..... So what's the problem?

Brain, how can you expect Jim to diagnose how lean it's running from a picture?
