It's that time of year when I prepare my pinz for the winter by getting a can of GT85 and spraying the areas that might be susceptible to rust. Mostly the interior at the rear, in the corners and along edges where moisture may lurk.
For those not familiar with GT85, it's a water displacement oil similar to WD40 with added teflon, often used with bicycles.
A great side effect is the smell. It's a gorgeous pinz-friendly smell of loveliness. Goes very nicely with petrol fumes and engine oil. Every time I take a passenger they comment on it.
Mmmmm wake up and smell the GT85

Come winter, if you drove off smartly enough in my 710K it could shed a carapace of clear Waxoyl. Applied before the onset of Winter, in the last of the sunshine to let it cure, come Spring you can hardly chisel it off.
And the rain here (Glasgow) makes Oregon look like the Atacama Desert.

Not sure about GT85 or Waxol smell or use, but the rain comment peaked my interest as a long time Oregon resident
Oregon's topography gives us some extreme weather & rainfall differences. We have subtropical rainforest on part of the coast 88"/2235mm average rainfall and have a fairly dry high desert 10"/253mm/yr.

I used the same site to check Scotland: http://www.currentresults.com/Weather/U ... tation.php
Looks like Scotland's wetter overall - no desert, but for max average rainfall not so much.
And to make you feel better, we are having a gulley washer as I write this, with 3/4" of rain in last 24 hours. We average 46"/1168mm/year here in Lake Oswego, OR. My pinz has been covered up for about 45 days since last drive on a no rain day.

Don't know GT85, pity you can't "post" the smell ......it must be about the only thing you can't do on the net!

It's funny how you don't feel so bad about the weather, just knowing that there's somewhere worse off.
You do have king salmon though and we don't, and that's not fair. We invented salmon. We should get the big ones.

Tony: Just smuggle some in & let them go in your favorite river (don't get caught), probably have them called an "invasive species" in a few years.
Afternoon edit: To make you feel even better, with the storm today we have had 2.01" of rain in the last 24hours
