710K Export project

Post by VinceAtReal4x4s »

A project is in the works. This one is being exported to Japan, oddly enough. More pics to follow over the next few weeks. I'm leaving on a film shoot soon but will post more when I'm back and by then this Pinz should have had most of its interior upholstery and sound control work done.

Support received from and thanks goes out to Andre of FatFab, Dave for all new glass, Jim at Goatwerks and of course Scott, for lots of good deals on parts.

Vince, is that exhaust hanger something you installed, or part of the kit?

Yes, it's a stock part: http://www.pinzgauer.com/showdetails.ph ... 131830342/

A tad pricey for the complete exhaust hanger :o

I never understood the purpose of this exhaust hanger. Especially because "M" trucks don't have one...

Gives a little more support to the pipe when a vertically challenged chuckle head uses the exhaust pipe as a step when climbing in the back of a 710K, not as likely with a 710M.

I'm back in town now and got a few pics of the new 710K interior. The goal was practical sound reduction only, and this job reduced it by seemingly around 50%. I'll be doing a few more things to get it down, hopefully, about 10% more but without more money to put into it, I can't go "all out".

The upholstery work was handled by a company here in SoCal and involved: Custom full headliner, Rattle Trap vibration damping material on all larger metal panels and a special sound controlling mat material that covers the floors in the middle and back, and carpet was added to the sides and fender well areas, as well as under the seats.

There is still some work to do but its mostly finished inside. I wish there was more budget to have the seats replaced and to do some additional work to the door panels and engine cover, but this is as far as I could take it this time to stay on budget. If I do another one of these in the future, the budget I will need to work with must go up by 30-50% on average. Please excuse the cheap, point-and-shoot camera photo quality.

I,ve no intention of doing the floor, but this summer I intend to take off the roof and sides of my K, completely de-rust, paint and then insulate and cover with some kind of carpet. Grey looks like a good colour.

Here we are, finally. It's ready for the long trip overseas. The winch is in place, the new Master-Pull Superline rope is on (5/16" and rated at over 21,000lbs!!) with its new Thimble that allows a shackle to be put on the end, or whatever's needed. A heavy shackle mount was bolted on the winch plate for more recovery options. The new Front Runner roof rack is on and fits great. Love their design. The interior is a lot more quiet than stock. 5 new BFG MT 255/85/16's installed. Engine is running perfectly thanks to Jim. Everything is ready to go, I just wish I could drive it!

Vince, do you have more details on that winch mount? Is it something that is going to be sold or can we request to have it made? Pretty cool setup, and I like how the a shackle or D-ring can be used.

This is an updated version of what I used to have on my 710M built back east years ago. Fat Fab (Andre) built this one and I came up with the shackle mount later. It's very simple, clean and bolts on in stock holes. Hard to beat. I did it originally because I liked keeping the stock look of the trucks overall. Yes he is making these on request as far as I know. I'm sure he will chime in! I know he made at least one other one already.

x2 - that is a slick looking setup which could make me rething the whole hand winch idea :)
Can you post a shot from the side so we can see the profile and how far it sticks out from vehicle (if you have time)?
Also - the the outside roof sprayed with something other than paint (ie LineX)?
Thanks,
Dan
