New (to me) 710M!

Post by Fentonite »

Always wanted one, and finally got the chance to buy a 1973 710M that belonged to a friend of the family. It's been sitting exposed for 10 years, and hasn't been started in 4. It obviously needs work, but I'm excited about it. Here's what I'm starting with:

I'm glad I found this forum. I'm sure I'll learn a lot here!

+1 Mine is a daily driver, and serves as a pretty darn good hockey transporter for my team mates and our after-game pub crawls.

It's cold in the mornings, and more than a bit wet in the rain... but tons of fun, 24/7 !

Congratulations! You will always remember the day you brought it home and you will never get out of a gas station without at least one question or one thumbs up!

Judging by your location and pictures, at some point you may want to speak with Ray:

And don't forget to reach out to the Rocky Mountain Pinzgauers club http://www.rmpinzgauers.org/ . Great group of folks that I am sure will be able to help you learn more about the truck.

Welcome......but do drive it on those maloya tyres......they will teach you just how tyres should not behave on a road (they are fine off road) put on some other tyres (I run Goodyear G90 7.50Rx16 great on road and off) almost any other tyres will make it handle and drive better than those Maloyas, even to an experienced heavy trucker, they are almost scary!!!!!!!

Good advice all around, thanks! The tires are completely dry-rotted, and are already slated for replacement. This is gonna get expensive...

I've been extremely pleased with retreads from TreadWright.com; less than half the price of similar BF Goodrich and they're in your area.

I took the advice above, thanks!... Ray is making my top now, and I ordered a set of Treadwrights today. I'll post pics when it's all installed!
