Factory Air?
I was reading through the owners manual last night and saw references to air conditioning. Has anybody ever actually seen this on a vehicle?

Re: Factory Air?
Power steering, AC... Sounds like you want a H2
This is the best way to get AC into a Pinz (please note that the picture attached is not of my Pinz as my wife wanted the AC in her car last summer!)
I had Andre make the support brackets and mounts and David Dunn help me with the glass.
Jim L rebuilt the the engine and the AC compressor as I had no clue what I was doing!
I think Scott is making a kit like this that will be for sale shortly at EI
Sorry - could not resist!
From what I know there was an attempt to add A/C to710/712's. Compressor was mounted on the front axle assembly with brackets and used double crank pulley. Some RedBull trucks had AC
I think if you search on the board you will find some info. Only successful attempts have been on K's and Ambulance bodies from what I recall and those were the rooftop type.

Beh. Factory air would be a joke in a 710M. There's literally no insulation in the cab.
I drive mine daily in North Carolina, and its fine. Roll up the roof. Open the windows. Lots of fresh air, often times moving 40mph through your hair. But never faster.

Re: Factory Air?
The factory ac used in the gas pinz was kind of a joke in that the compressor was mounted to the truck's frame and an additional belt to the engine and was a hardtop item only because all the rest of the unit was mounted on the roof ( very much like a RV roof mounted AC).
There are some people here with fabricated ACs, but I believe they are all on hardtops too. Do a search of the archives, you'll find a few threads on it.
In the upper left corner, you'll sometime see examples of ACs on Pinzes, both gas and TD

Being unsure what you meant by "Factory Air" I Googled the term, interesting I learn something every day.

Not quite what was showing up with a Google search urbandictionary has a slightly different idea.
Not what I expected when I was looking for those things the Hot Rod crowd mount on their side windows.

Not surprising. Google is spending all their time on the phones trying to sell space on their site to update anything.

Don't let the owners with little imagination alter you thoughts. there are a couple of pinzies here in the desert AZ that have air conditioning and they work great. Yes you need to do a bunch of insulation to the truck, seal as many of the air leaks as possible then construct a hard top or install an insulated soft top but air conditioning has been done successfully in a pinz.
Dream on and try different modifications. Just because people say that can not be done does not make it so. The number of mods to my truck that I have done, when I was told they could not be are countless.
When I first got into the pinz no one thought EFI was possible, widened tires would destroy the truck (been over 10 years so far without a bearing failure), led lighting was not even considered possible or practical, the list goes on and on.

Re: Factory Air?
I am more interested in the AC than want to have it. I think it is mostly going to be a mountain car, but when I saw the ac reference in the manual it blew my mine. No place for the compressor, no place for the condenser, no place for the evaporator.
