Cable Ties for TD's

Post by Profpinz »

The main wiring harness in TD's is held in place with reusable cable ties that are fixed to the Pinzgauer body via welded "mushroom studs".
Some of the cable ties were already damaged when I purchased the vehicles others I stupidly cut when I was stripping the unit, but as I wasn't worried as I intended to but new ones......however after hours of "Googling" I'm at a loss to find them. Surely Steyr Puch didn't design them especially for their own use.

Has anybody come across this type of cable tie anywhere?

I have seen ones very similar..however they do not attach to the body with a mushroom stud but rather a sheet metal screw..I would have to look in the garage I may have a few laying around and perhaps there is a manufacturer marking or part number on them if this helps you.
life is like a box of chocolates...you never know which one you might get

Hi Peter. I had to find some for my 716 rebuild, they are Mercedes as fitted to Merc Sprinter vans, I took one in as a pattern to my Mercedes Commercial dealer and they recognised them straight away, if memory serves they were about 27 pence each.
Cheers Nigel.

Steyr Puch lists part number 7161541531. It is ordered on request - no price given on their web site.

Thanks guys for the posts....it does appear that SDP did use a variety of ties over the various TD models (P80, P90, P93), but never really noted which was which.

Nigel, I'II remember that and endeavour to track down the Mercedes part number, (You've obviously got a friendly Merc dealer....I've tried a few here in the past for various bits and pieces and without a Part No: and/or VIN they didn't want to know me :( ) but Xavier on Robi's Forum pointed me to an Ebay site where I could purchase them (they list them as VW Part) so I ordered some......Admittedly you paid a lot less than I did from Ebay, but I did get a message earlier saying that they have already been dispatched.

Here is the Ebay site in case you need more and can't get the cheaper Merc one's :D

Thanks again! :D :D

Next time you need a "friendly" Mercedes parts supplier give Chris from Access Parts (Access Spares) a try if you haven't already, he supplies parts for most European makes but Mercedes is his niche. 67 Taunton Drv Cheltenham Ph. 9584 7788.
I'll keep an eye out for you at Wandin this weekend.
