Compression psi

Post by Steve »

Gents,

This may have been covered, but I can't find it in here using the "search" feature...

What should my Pinzi's cylinder psi read when doing a compression test? I can't even find a value in the repair manual (psi, atm or kPa).

Cylinders 1, 3 and 4 gave a reading of 120 psi, while number 2 gave an initial reading of 120, then topped out at 140 after cranking a few times without releasing pressure on the gauge. I did this with the other three cylinders, but they never climbed above 120.

Thanks!

I did this on one of mine and 145 was the highest number with 140 being the lowest.

When was the last time the valves were adjusted? Recently had a rig in for service with horrible compression, varying from cylinder to cylinder. After valve adjust they all came up to a reasonable range. 120 across all 4 + or - 5% is not bad.

Cheers,

Compression psi

Scott,

Not since I've had it, in which I've driven about 1200km. I'm not driving it at the moment as a precaution, and hope to get the valves adjusted in the next week or so.

Thanks!
