Leaking Jack

Post by SAM. C. »

Hi All

My jack has stopped working properly. It jacks up fine but slowly descends under the weight of the vehicle. I think it may be a worn seal. Does anyone know if there is a kit to replace the seals in one of these Jacks.

Cheers

Sam, I had leaks in my jack and I was able to replace the upper rubber O-ring with a new one found at plumbing supply dept. The one seal I could not fix (or find) is the red plastic fitting that actually rides up/down in the pump fitting below the handle. Mine has a small cut on it and once I start pumping the fluid runs out and down the side...messy but it does work better now with the upper O-ring replaced, no leak on the main shaft now. I don't trust it though so I bought an after market extra high style jack to take on trips.

The first jack repair shop I took mine to was able to rebuild it with no problems. The jack works like new and has for a couple years now.

Jim, like most of the stuff I do it is on the local resource section under the information tab on the SWPA (www.swpinzgauer.org) website. I wanted to at one time get a site going where we could list people who help with the pinz habit and help fellow pinz owners find those close to them but it was shot down by some of the old timers. I now just post the information on the SWPA site.
