Hey guys, just a quick question. What would cause a C30* transmission to slip out of 2nd and 3rd gear occasionally?
Thanks!

Re: Transmission slipping out of gear.
Too many variables. You will have to pull it and tear into it. It is a ZF 4 sp, good luck finding hard parts. Bearings and seals should be no problem to find,
You will have to support the back of the engine to remove the trans/transfer case unit or you will damage the water pump and fan drive.

Hey Jim,
Thanks, that's about what I thought. At first I thought maybe shift linkage would do this, but not just 2 of 4 gears.
I sent you an email a couple days ago, did you get it?

Did you sort this out yet?
I have experienced that the following issues can case this.
1. The linkage may need a check and tuning.
2. The rubbergasket?, the round rubberlike thingie, at the bottom of the stick can sometime force the stick to move to neutral.
Long shot I know, but as I said I have experienced both myself.

Christer, this was about another truck I was considering long ago. I passed on it. The truck I did buy from Coatex AB is shifting perfectly.
But thanks for your input on the subject. Hopefully someone else will benefit from your knowledge.
