Front license plate
Front license plate
Do you guys have an opinion on where to mount a front license plate? Most of the pics I've seen don't have a front plate, but here in Missouri, not having both plates is probable cause to pull you over.
I did a search, but didn't see a discussion on this anywhere. Please post a pic if you've figured out a slick way to do this.
Thanks, Barry

Re: Front license plate
Check your state laws carefully. A front plate may not be required on a old vehicle like this. I discovered that a plate is not required in Colorado.
Very obscure law that one of our club members found.
Use the same location that is used in Europe if one is required, no need to be that creative.

I mount mine on exactly where the glove box is located. I use zip ties through the 4 holes.

I would hope that it does not rain in VA as your passenger may complain of leaking on them...that, or your glove box will be a receptor for water.
I had to seal the holes with silicone to keep out the snow melt and water.

Re: Front license plate
I don't have mine yet but here is what PO had set up for front plate
The old license plate in the front window could also work - between wiper motor and glass texas pinzgauer has this setup on his 712 Once I get it I hope to add an Andre (Andre - I will PM you - may as well ship it to Jim vs to Canada) winch mount and use one of these to mount the lic plate:

Re: Front license plate
Yup, water comes through when it rains in several places =)
I tend to not drive the truck when rain is forecasted. The truck does not have the upper halfs of the doors.

Re: Front license plate
I found out about water coming in when I lived in WA. Spending time in the desert in SoCal it was never an issue.

Some great ideas there, thanks. I plan on putting a winch bumper on, but until then, I'll just get a nice looking from and mount it to the OE bumper.

Thats enough reason to build my own winch bumper. I like it.

Re: Front license plate
Although a front plate is not required for my vehicle, I did mount one at the location of the European plates.
I made an aluminum plate with mounting holes at the existing locations and then used pop rivets to fasten the state plate to it.
Keeps it up out of the way of rocks and branches.

Re: Front license plate
I made a sheet metal plate for the drivers side too, using the Euro bolt holes and some rubber grommets as spacers. I then bolted my license plate to it. The spacers allowed for the small nuts and bolts to clear the nose, yet tighten down on the plate.
Not a great pic, but all I have at the moment

Re: Front license plate
Or you could just have a euro style plate made with your license number and state/provincial sticker:
While I'm not endorsing the legal status, after 3 years, the last thing any cop has asked about this truck was the front plate.

Re: Front license plate
I got mine from this site:Where did you have it made?
http://www.europlates.com/index.php?route=common/home (in Florida -frame $15.95, plate $29.95)
There is also this site:
http://www.customeuroplates.com/ (in California- has a larger state emblem frame $20.00, plate $30.00)
Seems they make a similar product. Both are US made and use an embossed aluminum plate, not a vinyl sticker on plastic.
The mounting frame was extra, but it had the holes to match the Pinz.
The frame is a cheap plastic (so don't over torque the mounting bolts!), but
has held up well for 3 years.

Re: Front license plate
I used the two bolts in front of the driver side (above the "B" in Totaljoint's Euro plate) to mount my front plate; just punch two holes top and bottom in the CENTER of the US style plate, and mount there.
