Anyone have any experience with this type of tire for stock Hafi rims?

Re: 145r12 Yokohama Super Digger II's
I researched them but found they were not DOT so gave up as I would like 1 set for road and dirt (but that may not happen).
Size is great

The 165/12 Universal Grip Swiss Army type are also not DOT.. and no one seems to import them anyway.. But a large number of Hafis roll on them.
Since the Super Diggers don't appear to be stamped "not for highway use" like all the ATV/UTV tires on the market, I was thinking its an option.

Agreed - could be a good option esp since it looks like they are made for the street and lots of mini trucks roll on themcascade.king wrote:

Much better than a low pressure, round ATV tire for sure
Do you have 12" or 13" rims ie are you trying to just find tires that will fit on the stock 12"?

12s.. I like the OEM wheels. One more "wtf" attribute of the Haflinger.
I like the round ATV profile, since it accommodates the variable "tucking" of the swing axles, but I can imagine rolling thru a low pressure bead at 30 in a corner and.. Bye bye.

Rim on Mayola's is a stock Hafi rim
Black rim is a Fiat 13" steel - pretty close to stock (what I am running on my Hafi sorry for crappy photo)
Then again - not a ton of selection for 13" rims either!
There are 14" aluminum Lancia rims out there too (photo is of Westernair's)

Re: 145r12 Yokohama Super Digger II's
Like Mike I have been looking for suitable offroad 12" tyres and have generally drawn a blank and have just put some really old and cracked Semperit 165/12 Universal Grips on my rims.
The Super Diggers look good (though a little narrow) but are not available here. I guess I could import some Mayolas, but for what they are, they are very expensive landed in Aust so not all that keen on these.
I often look at Haflinger Treffens on Youtube and the majority of Haffys seem to be still running the Semperit Universal Grips. For sure some look old but many also look quite new. Where are the Europeans getting their tyres.
Has anyone heard of the Universal Grips being made again?
Other than the Mayolas, these Duper Diggers and UTV tyres has anyone found a tyre manufacturer who is making offroad tyres than suit out 12" rims?
For day to day running I have Fiat 14" alloy rims with a modern M&S radial which work great but looking for something suitable for the original 12" rims.
Thanks
Garry

Re: 145r12 Yokohama Super Digger II's
I looked and looked like everyone and found only ATV tires in 12"
I ended up buying some used Mayloas for "show" and some 13" off-road tires
I was going to buy 14" off-road tires but don't like the 14"alloy rims I have
Have you thought about reverse thinking and put road tires on the 12" rims and the off-road tires on your 14's?

Re: 145r12 Yokohama Super Digger II's
Yes - if my current M&S tyres wear out (if they ever do) I will put Maxxix 14" mud tyres on. These do increase the gearing a bit and visually the car does look a bit odd but they drive well. Original 12" tyres do look good (and we all know good looks are important ) and for a classic vehicle they are part of its originality.
I am sure that given the number Haflingers still running around the world there would be a market for original pattern tyres if someone was to make them.
Cheers
Garry

Re: 145r12 Yokohama Super Digger II's
Is there a reason not to go with the only 145r12s on tirerack? Not aggresive enough for off road?

Re: 145r12 Yokohama Super Digger II's
They would be OK if you don't want to go offroad - really they are just a M+S road tyre.
Even the Yokohamas which are the subject of this thread are just a coarse M&S - Ok on gravel but not good in anything heavier.

Shhhh - don't tell anyone but the new Fiat 500s uses a 4x98 bolt pattern which may work
I picked up some Fiat 15" steel rims PN 61659 as they were free
They are 6" wide however!
Technically you could slap on a set of Abarth rims
Cheers,
Dan

Re: 145r12 Yokohama Super Digger II's
15 inch Fiat 500 wheels, plus sidewall and tread height might get hung up on the body under load/bounce.
Also, the offset is gonna need spacers, pushing 6 inch wide wheels out quite a bit.
I'd like to see it applied, but it's not "plug and play."

Agreed - it is the offset that I want to check oncascade.king wrote:15 inch Fiat 500 wheels, plus sidewall and tread height might get hung up on the body under load/bounce.

I do find it amazing that they stuck with 4x98 however!
