This is the funniest thread in a while. Although the topic is serious, and I agree that anything in print negative could be used against us, Its funny to see a post followed by 2 deleted then another post followed by a couple more deletes then other posts.

I agree with all the above statements. The reality is, that in my application, the seatbelts are for that impromptu riders only. Much like many of the owners here, I think it's a unanimous decision that it's not advised to use the rear seats at "highway" speed or on a regular basis even. Even if they aren't current mil-spec, they are better than nothing. I really don't plan on using them often, and ultimately it's not a bus which ironically, don't have seatbelts either. I think it's more of a mental thing. Passengers feel much safer, and so should the driver when seatbelts are used. It's also like my grandfather said, "it's better to have and not need than to need and not have".

I always figured the belts are fitted to keep off-road passengers on the high side (end) from becoming off-road passengers on the low side (end) when conditions change the gravity vector. This is an entirely different set of circumstances from those in the sfi guide.
