Small plugs around front doors

Post by TechMOGogy »

Been looking at the spare parts book for too long!
Can't find the small plugs that are in the door frames (body side).
Anyone know what part number they are?
Thx

Are you referring to the door bump stops? Part #7111740681

I forgot to take a pic but no - I think they are small body cavity plugs all around the body where the door closes I think I have 3-5 of them on each side
Will get a picture later today!

I was never able to find them either. Thought they would be in Group 25-05-.
I used some rubber plugs that I got from McMaster one time. I also took an old plug to a body shop supply and was able to get some suitable replacements.

Just for reference these are the small plugs I was asking about - finally remembered to snap a picture.
Looks pretty standard so not a big deal.

My truck does not have plugs in that location. None of my previous trucks did either. It appears someone drilled for rust control and placed in plugs.

Both of my 710s have them and in the same locations as yours. Maybe it was something they did during factury refurbs?

Both of my Swiss trucks had the bodies replaced in the early 1990's (the replacement year is stamped into the body, under the driver's seat near the doghouse edge). Neither have holes or plugs in the door frame openings. Perhaps this was an attempt to prevent older bodies from needing replacement.

Who knows at this point
Like my G some of them could have been ordered from the factory with 'extra rust proofing'
Wish I could get a build sheet (perhaps I will contact STEC as I did for my Hafi)?
Regardless, it is good to have them and since they are already there, I will be blasting inside any I can find with wool wax for some extra protection!
If my inspection camera fits in I will snap some pics and post up what I find, may be full of wax?

Dredging up this old post to see if anybody has found a good source for these plugs. No help here locally. I believe they are 8mm though some holes are 12mm in the body. I have found some similar appearing plugs online but only at UK sites, large quantities or high shipping. I believe they are called LDPE barrel hole plugs. Any help?
Thanks!

I never did find an equivalent plug - I purchased a couple of regular black hole plugs to fill in the missing ones for now - I think 8 mm but can't remember exact size
