Parking brake disc rivets

Post by pinzinator »

I have a question on installing the parking brake disc brass rivets. What kind of tool is needed to properly install them?

Probably something like this: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Prime-Line-S ... lsrc=aw.ds

But it may be better to consult whomever you got them from?

Amazing that Home Depot offers such a tool but Harbor Freight doesn't. I found the same item on EBay for about the same price and ordered it. I have to set 24 rivets in all, one extra was included. That means I have to have a 96% success rate, I hope it's my lucky day.

Thanks for the tip!

Though I have a punch and anvil for some types of those rivets, I generally use a center punch, and dress it with a flat punch if need be.

I was able to get the rivets installed rather easily today with a $7.47 tool that I bought on EBay. I had an anvil (the small round thing), which I placed on a metal plate for support, and squared everything up before swinging the hammer. No mistakes, so I have 1 rivet leftover. I'll reinstall everything into the Pinzgauer tomorrow and Friday and post photos.
Note- 4 rivets were installed in one direction, 8 were installed from the opposite direction.
