Disc brake conversion
Got the KlugeWerks disc Brake Conversion finished . Great quality
parts and detailed instructions. Very easy install. My brake discs are the newer
vented style. The wheels and wheel spacers came from KlugeWerks too. I think I gain 3.5” in axle width which should provide enhanced stability on hill
sides. The install took me 10 hours which included cleaning and priming the 5 new wheels, removing front two wheels , drums, pads, springs, & brake
cylinders. I had a hard time bleeding the brakes, took three attempts. Parts were received intact and on time . I cleaned an painted parts as directed. Installation of the the mounting hardware was simple. Then the Wilwood calipers got on board like in first class and new pads put in.
Tolerances are tight. Hoses provided were well thought out and fit well. Installing the proportional valve was simple (if you pay attention to the inner workings of the Static Pressure Valve). I had to separate the rear brakes static pressure valve and the little unknown inner parts and pieces went flying. Without Chris’s help I would never had a
chance in doing the reassembly correctly. Overall KlugeWerk's Disc Brake
Conversion is a great product. The new KlugeWerk's wheels are really nice
too. I only did the front brakes for now, but will get the rears done this
fall. Haven’t got much time driving with the new brakes to get them dialed in, but will soon. I would really suggest pursuing KlugeWerks products if you are interested in converting to disc brakes on your Pinzgauer.

Nice job!
Do you have any pics of the wheels painted? I have ordered a kit and those wheels as well. Trying to figure out what color and process (pwd/coat,paint) im going with.

I opted for low cost rattle can primer and paint.

I finished adding the rear disc brake conversion the day before I left for a Moab Utah trail ride. 250 trail miles in 3 days, including Kane Creek and Elephant Hill. Both trails are rated difficult and were. Without power steering steep, technical, rocky, lots of ledges and drop offs are really outside the design specs of the pinzgauer. (At least for a 62 year old man with failing spinal vertebrae). I really pushed the pinz hard, never used the winch or took a strap.
The disc brakes completely abandomed any worries what so ever I might have had regarding the braking abilities of the pinz. Dropping off steep ledges, creeping to the edge, releasing the brakes and then stopping the rig after the drop was a breeze. Holding a position on a steep grade no problem. I didnt experience any brake over heating , on or off road. The Klugewerks wheels performed well aired down to 10 psi in rear, 16 psi front.Installation was easy, quality of parts is excellent, cost is reasonable. I played with the F/R proportional valve some but didnt see much change in braking (I had a lot of weight in the cargo bed).
Overall 5 Stars for the Klugewerks Disc Brake Conversion Kit.
The cab and cargo area was covered by a sun shade material that I fabricated to provide better cooling for being out in the desert.

Very cool!
I was in the middle of Elephant Hill once while the sun was setting! I got there late and had to get to my reserved camping spot deep inside. Doing it at night, alone, is no fun task. (I had no issues in the Gwagen however)

So - Did you trailer the Pinz down to Moab?
How do you like those new Interco SX2-50 tires? Seems like they might be a great tire for the Pinz with either the transit wheels or the new 8 inch wheel options becoming available.
Did you have the wheel balanced or are you using beads on them?
How did they handle the conditions in Moab? Any visible damage / wear / chunking after the trip?

Pinz was trailered to Moab from Colorado. Tires were/are great, no damage incurred. Tires were balanced at the tire shop who mounted them with lead weights on inside rim. We didnt drive much asphalt but when we did there was no poor performance from such an aggressive tread.
