My 710 came with a muffler in poor health so I finally decided to do something about it. Inspired by the grainy photos found online I made my own high clearance exhaust that exits behind the storage box on the left side of the Pinz.
It's 2.25" throughout with a dual 1.75" to single 2.25" transition at the head of it all. Despite the smallish straight through muffler, it's damped well and cruises quieter than the now evident geartrain noise. It can get loud if you want it to though which seems to work well with my beast.
I wanted to try the high clearance first, then will probably do a different tail section with a full length exit once I get a season on this one, or when my kids start choking on exhaust. Not sure what to really expect here.
Anyways enough rambling...here are some pics!

Re: Stainless exhaust fab
How does the performance (HP) to before? My understanding was this engine isn't happy if the exhaust is too free-flowing.
And the paint on the heat exchanger....has that been through heat cycles yet? Looks really nice and am wondering what you used and how well it holds up.

Re: Stainless exhaust fab
I did read that about the free flowing exhaust, but couldn't find any other info regarding it. My old rusted out muffler was completely open on the back end so it's kind of difficult to compare the two but the new one is certainly less full of holesChickenPinz wrote: ↑Wed Feb 16, 2022 7:08 pm How does the performance (HP) to before? As far as the heat exchanger paint, the one in the pic hadn't been heat cycled but it is now. It turned a bit duller but still looks good on day two...it's the VHT hi temp stuff.
Re: Stainless exhaust fab
If I recall correctly, back pressure of the exhaust should be ~2lbs.
