Re: The project 710K Begins.
Where would that jack even work on a 710? Nowhere from the sides that I can think of, the rear bumper maybe. I would think the front bumper sits up too high. Serious question as I think it looks cool but wondering how practical it is.
EDIT.. Are the wheel wells strong enough to lift there?
The ...

Re: The project 710K Begins.
It's all your fault. :-)
The pictures of completely overhauling/rebuilding your truck are a great inspiration. Terrific job (including the paint job) :-)
Thanks for the compliment. I had a lot of help from some of the most informed and experienced people on this forum, and much of the body ...

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you’ve planted Vault Boy exactly where your future GPS speedo antenna puck is going to live. Really hoping he’s on a mag mount… otherwise he’ll have to get evicted.

Re: The project 710K Begins.
Solid-looking starting platform overall — it reads as honest rather than “improved to death,” which is a good thing.
On the electrical side, I’m sure you’re already thinking in this direction, but I’ll share it anyway: I’ve found it best to keep accessories 24V wherever possible , and only feed a ...

Re: Road air pressure
Hey, MrZero, have you leaned hard sideways on a tire at that 17/19PSI? Especially on the factory rims without the ridge for the bead, I worry about breaking the bead (insta-flat) with strong side-loading. Or maybe a Pinz is just too scary to get much sidewall force on the tires?
Yes — I ...

Re: Road air pressure
On my 710K I’m running near GVM (~6,500 lbs) about 99% of the time, and the rear is carrying more of that load than the front. Tire setup is 255/85R16 BFG KM3s on the original Pinzgauer factory rims (tubeless).
For pressures, what’s worked well for me:
On-road: 50 psi front / 54 psi rear

Sounds like quite the adventure after all. Glad that you and the truck made it home mostly intact.

Re: Road trip from San Antonio to Kansas City
I just saw this post and was going to lend some tips from my inaugural drive from Littleton, CO to Las Vegas, NV after purchasing my 710K a little over 15 years ago, but then noticed that your already underway. I hope the adventure goes without incident. Best of luck!

Apologies for the delayed reply...
1. How did you cover the output for the speedo cable?
Used the end of a spare cable threaded in place to the front dif and capped.
2. What did you do about the odometer reading?
Did you have to fill out a statement at the DMV, were you able to have the ...

Re: Turn signal switch
As a bicycle nerd as well as a Pinzgauer nerd I keep a lot of bicycle inner tube material around for exactly this type of thing. I know that I have a section of standard thickness road bicycle (so pretty thin) inner tube rubber fitted between the crescent piece that you described and the steering ...
