I was looking how much is diesel Pinzgauer...and it is definitely our of my reach I can not afford spend $25k or even more.
My budget will be max $10k to buy a car and then I will have some money left for modifications. So I will have to make some compromise what model I will buy.

Pass on a 712, and go for a 716 (4x4) or a 718 (6x6). The diesel Pinzes are only 8" longer than a gas Pinzes with the same size cargo area ( cab area was lengthen for the diesel) . The diesel isn't a problem in cold weather if you're use to them. The 710/12 have a 80l fuel tank where the 716/18s ...

I'd keep your cage very lightweight. The last thing a Pinz needs is more weight up top which greatly affects stability off-road.

I have same problem with our Delica.
My plan is to fit long range fuel tank and water tank underneath, so it should help with stability. I did the same with our Delica ...

I need relatively small car, not big russian " gruzavik"......russian word for lorry.
Russian cars are famous for their bad reliability....so many Czech people had them and everyone hated them for this.
I will spend 5 months in Russia next year doing research for future trips, I can speak russian ...

So 6x6 will be our choice.
I would be grateful if you can comment on my ideas about modifications for car.

I would like to rebuild the car for traveling, so I will have plenty of time to do it.
How is 6x6 in terrain compare to 4x4? Is 4x4 more capable thanks to shorter wheel base? I have never seen car in reality, so it is hard to imagine it.
