Re: Another source of noise
I gave some injured veterans a ride home from the VA car show a number of years ago. They all thought that there was no lubrication in the transmission because it was so noisy. I'm not sure they believed me when I told them I had literally just changed all the fluids about 3 months prior. There's ...

Damn! That is easily the best cover I have ever seen. Where can I get one??? It beats the hell out of the Swiss Army logo blanket I lay across the center.

Re: Timing light for OEM wirese w/o disconnection
You could always replace the shielded wire with a standard one just for timing, then swap them back again.

Re: Starter sometimes fails to engage
This string covers a lot of the issues. One major one is that your mount might be cracked. The new starters put out a lot more torque than the OEM, and if your mount is cracked you cannot see it unless it is under torque. The rubber holds the pieces from bending so far as to break. So, you possibly ...

Re: Help Removing Flywheel Bolts
Just be sure when you replace them you use NEW bolts. Those are supposedly 1-time use bolts. When you tighten them you tighten them to the torque in the book, and then you go another 1/4 turn to stretch the bolt. At least, that was my understanding.

Re: Wheel stud replacement
I haven't seen this subject in quite a long time. A lot has to do with the wheel stud holes. If you are getting new wheels, contact hummerproducts.com and check to see their lug nuts. If the holes in your wheels need to be adjusted, it might help. We used an extruded/extended thread stud. Has been ...

Re: Timing light for OEM wirese w/o disconnection
I just bought an inexpensive analog/digital one for $75 on Amazon. It's nice because it has a digital display which allows me to retard or advance the flash exactly whatever amount I want. So I set the light and then match up the marks exactly on each other. Do a search for "Innova 3568 Digital ...

Re: Civilian ignition
The biggest drawback to the OEM ignition is that is costs a freakin' ton of cash to replace if you have a failure. Most of us have an OEM with wires, etc. sitting in a bag somewhere, but replacing them is still expensive because they never make it to market. The Pertronix, a set of cables, and a new ...
Re: Exhaust
Exhaust is pretty much straight forward. Are you talking about the flex joint? The motion of the Pinzgauer and thus the muffler and the relative stiffness of the headers bolted to the head requires that flex piping just before the muffler. You can buy one at https://swissarmyvehicles.com . They ...

Re: Transmission noisy in 5th gear
Although Pinzgauer gears are noisy, you might be sure of a couple things. I'm not sure you have a real issue there and it could be engine or gears, depending on whether you are accelerating or slowing down.

Re: Road air pressure
This might answer your question: If you are trying to air down the standard 6" tire, I wouldn't suggest it. I lot of people have found that if you go buy 6" tires to replicate the original Malloya look, you might spend $5k to $6k. If you find a set of wheels that are standard sized (roughly 8 ...

Re: Road air pressure
You can guess and try what you think will work. But the easiest way is to contact the regional rep for that tire. He has probably seen almost every use for that tire you can think of. If you tell him what the vehicle is, after a short period of shock, you can tell him the weight, power, surface, etc ...

Re: installing differential breathers
You'll find that the pressure pushes oil out, but it is highly unlikely that it would be pushed or sucked back in. It's a very small amount of oil too. The problem is usually that it drips or get on the outside of the vehicle at higher speeds. The closed thing looks interesting. I'd like to see how ...

Yep. There's a vacuum hose underneath the sheet metal around the carbs that people tend to forget about. Check that too.

Re: Typical bus voltage?
I've seen varying voltage based on the condition of the batteries. I have permanent voltmeters attached to each battery. During driving they will read anywhere from 12.8 to 13.1 each at idle, (12.3 to 13.1 with engine off) up to about 14.8 to 15.4 each, if the batteries are low and accepting a lot ...
