Oil
Something just kicking around about air cooled engines in general: The oil can actually serve as a 'coolant' to help move some of the heat away from the 'vitals'. I did think about the dry sump system as well, but how hot would the oil tank reservoir/scavenge get? I think/feel that air cooled ...

Space under plates
I got really cold on a long trip to Iowa...Took off plates stuff the area with 'rock wool' insulation. Just for the short term. I like the idea of MREs or water for emergencies :)
Does anyone know if these plates (since they are also on the seats) could be a dual purpose of a durable surface and a ...

Heater Fun!
My wife and I just about had hypothermia om a trip from CO to IA (what a bad Christmas adventure). The 12v side of the pinz died and thus no heat from the aux heater and forget about the stock heater when the air temp is -10 and you are moving at 60mph (no frozen emoticon). So we did two things.

terminal block
OK, what i meant from this is to have the ground of the 12volt side of the converter isolated from the 24volt side using a common terminal block system (this also can make the rest of your wiring neater.
An example while for a 12 volt system is shown:

Oops!
I took a close look at the front carb and noticed some fuel condensation/leakage around its' top section. Maybe I need to dig in. I have only a short time for this but will take a look.
Thanks for the suggestions
I'll report back if I find an 'easy solution'

The previous owner did the system SO WRONG! I will be doing a re-install soon with pictures and maybe a video as well. Three things to make sure of :
1. Look where you place it and where the mounting holes and hardware will go: the previous owner drilled thru original instruction plates. So much for ...

Backfire and poor/no idle
Hi All,
I have a 1975 710M. Had it on a LONG COLD trip from Colorado to Iowa and back in December '08. Air temps were constantly around -10 below (we almost froze to death). There was alot of problems (of course) like intermittent carb backgiring with even getting up to a reasonable operating temp ...
