Re: 718 Rebuild

I stopped posting years ago when my internet supplier dropped support for file/picture storage and I just never got back to posting ...

Re: My latest project - Disc Brakes for a 710/712

here banding wheels is not legal but removing the wheel centre and rewelding at a different offset is legal and ndxot all that expensive.
Tell me about it, I've just been through all that with the authorities.....Pinzgauer wheels are a pain to change as the material is so thick that the centre won ...

Re: Would this VIN plate draw attention?

The 740 listing has got me intrigued so I did some additional research........whilst I didn't find any reference to a 740 project, according to the book, PUCH by Egon Rudolf, there were early projects (mainly in the 1960's) designated as
720, 730 and 750.

The 750 was interesting as it was ...

Re: Would this VIN plate draw attention?

No mention of a 740 in the Steyr Puch Bible (Puch-Automobile 1900 - 1990), or any other Steyr Puch literature that I can find.
It would be easy enough to check.........Contact S-Tec!

Re: Hub wear ring question

Usually the raceways are tight and require extraction by mechanical means, buy I have run into loose units over the years.......btw the raceway should be firmly attached to the wheel flange/stub axle.
I usually stick the loose raceways in place with Loctite and also thoroughly coat the O ring, but ...

Re: 716 Chassis Picture

Thanks Dave, yes I have those pics in the Parts Manuals, but I needed actual images of the chassis to show to the Registration Dept Engineers real component parts.
S-Tec have been very helpful!

Re: 716 Chassis Picture

Ditto Nigel.....I looked through all my pamphlets, bochures, files, images etc and couldn't find a thing. Thanks for looking anyway!

I've sent an email to S-Tec so I'll just have to wait and see if they can help.
