Pics of finished Nikisil plated aluminum Pinz cylinders

Post by MASSIVE PINZ »

Here they are... After a few month of R&D these are now ready to be tested more seriously..

This set offers a 96mm bore, up from the stock 92mm of the stock 2.5 engine. Some guys have been emailing asking about the status of these cylinders and the testing so I figured we'd post these pics.

Now all we lack is a practical application study on expansion rates and the compatability of the stock Pinz head studs with these cylinders. It has taken A LOT of work to get this far!

Wow they would even look nice at the Tate Modern 8)

They look very pretty I bet they area as good as they look what does that take the cc up to? Do other components need changing to accept them such as new cam profiles etc?

Even Hugh Hefner would have to appreciate those jugs!

Yep, these babies are REALLy sweet!

These cylinders make higher compression ratios a possibility without any negative effects- on the positive side they allow for the engine to be built much more modern with better efficiency.

These are 96mm

These new jugs are a much more plausible mod for me than fuel injection. Will they work with the standard carbs?

Absolutely, up to the 96mm bore size. After that the added displacement moves the RPM range way down and the engine becomes a gas guzzler..

Nope... Not as low as it would be.. Unusable power just kills efficiency at higher RPM.

The torque peak being so low is why the Pinz loses so much power on hills in top gear and why they don't tow as well as they could. Creating a combination that provides low end grunt and a broader powerband with a flatter torque curve across the band is the key...

And what Pinz engine did that set of curves come from? I like most good curves
