Rear end weight
I just bought my first Pinz. The first time my girlfriend and I took it off road, we came to a nice mudhole. Someone must have tried to come out from the other way and got hung up and dug about a 1 foot drop where we were trying to go in. Needless to say, the rear wheels came up about a foot and a half off of the ground, and the old lady started to freak. Anyone have any suggestions on how to add some weight in the back? I have read that the Pinz was light in the back but it was a bit of a surprise to me too. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Next time, put the old lady in the back
Seriously, you can kind of expect this from an unload 710 (M especially). I generally run in "safari" mode and have gear, water, tools, spares, 2 kids, a wife and a Newfoundland dog in the back and I do OK. Though the 712 owners will tell you the extra axle in the back sure keeps the end down (and they're right), this is not an option for us.
This will be especially shocking when you come down hills and hit something (pothole, log, etc) with an empty backend and with any kind of speed (speed kills man, specially in a Pinz)...
Take some comfort, I've seen some pretty crazy crap from 710's regarding wheels up behavior. Still alive. Though, talk to Jim LaGuardia about rollovers etc.
Anyhoo, take er easy, put some sand back there, get used to the 710 dynamics and I think you'll be OK.

Charles,
Thanks for the input. Good to hear that you take your dog on the trail. Me too. Had my Chocolate lab in the back. He's only about 95 lbs. so he didn't help much as a counterweight. In case there I was a little vague in my post, I was creeping down the hill. Just a little too much drop off, I guess. I guess I'll have to load up with some weight in the back next time.
Thanks again,
Spence
