oil condensation

Post by Oberon »

I just changed my oil for the second time in about a month and a half, cause I wanted to flush my engine a little. Both times, I found some condensation on the fill cap along with a yellowish pasty substance on the fill cap and also on the dipstick. any suggestions on what the problem is and how do I fix it? Is this a common problem?
any help would be appreciated,
Spence

Remember you have an air cooled engine, short drives= condensation.
You live in a cold climate and to achieve operating temps could be difficult. Insluate the crankcase breather (going to filler neck) and frequent oil changes,I assume this is what the Swiss did (the oil changes).

Hiya,
Don't worry. When I was a new Pinz owner (living in Minnesota), the first winter kinda freaked me out.
Froth in the oilcap, frozen air-filter, etc...

I've learned to enjoy these things, and got tired of worrying about things I couldn't change (kind of like Pinz AA or something).

As far as froth on my oilcap, I've tried every possible trick to aleviate this situation to no avail. However, I've also never had any kind of problem wih this. Just let your Pinz warm up adequately before you take off (a cylinder head temp gauge is required for any Pinz as far as I am concerned) and you should be OK.

If the froth really bothers you, make sure you take a long enough trip to boil off the water and then give your Pinz some time to cool-off (while running) after your trip.
Best Regards,
Charles

condensation

All three of mine do it as well. My first Pinz iced up and then it burned like a whole quart of oil in about one block. Talk about a smokescreen. I think it is the breather line that does that. It only did it once and I thought that i broke a piston or something
