Steering accuracy

Post by Roman »

I tried to make an accurate steering, but is still not like I would want.
The steering box is adjusted as much as possibile, but the feeling on the road is still not completelly accurate.
When at still, and the wheels are straightforward, the steering wheel can be moved for a certain angle left or right and springs back to the centre.
But while driving, Pinz has a tendency to go off the straight line and need to be catched by adjustments of the steering wheel.
I would appreciate to know about other experiences on this issue. Is this normal, or is something that can be done to improve the steering accuracy. Maybe I am just too demanding to my 30 years old machine.

I think the only adjustment is toe-in, 2-4mm. If that is off, you will have handling problems. Any alignment shop can do it, or do it yourself like I did. Big difference!

Thanks for advice. I'll check that for sure.
