Towbars

Post by SAM. C. »

Hi all

Has anyone managed to fit a standard towball to their Pinz?

If you did how did you do it and can you give me some tips?

Cheers

Sam,

In Aussie-speak, a "towbar" is the thingie that goes in the back to which you attach a trailer, correct?

Trailer Pulling Thingy

Post by SAM. C. »

Hi Evan

I think you call it a trailer hitch over there? Yes I mean the ball and its mount. I want to be able to pull a normal trailer if possible.

Have you made some mods?

Cheers

SAV Bracket

Post by SAM. C. »

Hi Mike

Looks great, but it dosent look like it addresses any height issues with towing hitches on civvy trailers. Would you just have an insert with the ball on that drops the ball a few inches?

Yes, there are many choices on drop hitches , Hench the term "hitch reciever " I use a 3'' drop, and a 14" drop for my needs
Scott also sells the hitch adaptor http://www.expedition-imports.com

Is the casting the bracket it is bolted to strong enough then even with the increased leverage from the drop bracket?

Hello Sam,

Here is a setup that we use in Europe. It works fine for normal civilian trailers. I have build myself an adaptor plate which allows me to move this particular trailer hitch up to 3 inches up or down.

And here is the link to the website http://www.pinzi-shop.de/html/zubehor.html => Scroll about half way down

Good luck,

hitch receiver

Post by krick3tt »

I got the hitch receiver shown above, and use the combination hitch fron Northern Tool that is a pintle and a ball together. Works for civie and military. ...but the OEM hitch is somewhat better for shock absorbing qualities, (per Alex, at EI).
