New Pinz
Hi everyone. After I saw Todd's Pinz driving around Jackson Hole, I finally broke down and my 712 should be here this weekend. Always wanted one and finally decided what the hell. Going to do a total restoration.

Todd, you know of anyone else with a Pinz in JAC? How is yours running now the parking brake is fixed? I think I am going black with a black front soft top and tan/beige rear soft top. Black rims of course. Resotoration will start next winter, going to leave it alone except for a few mechanical items for the summer. My freind Jeremy (General Manager at the Lodge of Jackson Hole) saw you driving the other day and thought mine had already been delivered. Now he is talking about getting one. Francios at Goosewing Ranch was also impressed. Got to admit, Jackson is a great place to own a Pinz with all the areas we have to drive them. Can't wait for hunting season.
No others but us according to the treasurers office. Had a heck of a time registering it.
She is running great! I did notice a big change going to the 125 main jets. Runs much better. Of course it's also been much warmer. Putting down horse stall mat in the back greatly improved the comfort level (noise).
We should get "Thing 1" and "Thing 2" put on them so people keep us straight! Your paint scheme will look really cool.
I met Jeremy a while back. I took some pics for him of his folks when they got to tour Airforce 2 with us.
Give me a call when yours gets here, I'll be interested to see it. The hippies will think we're invading!

With all the off road controversy going on right now, I am sure the hippies are going to love seeing not one but two Pinz's in town. My wife wants to piss them off by putting a "trees for traction" bumber sticker on it with a picture of a Pinz mowing down some trees.. I told her hell no, that we will have a Pinz with flat tires, cut top, sugar in gas tank, etc...... We really are responsible off roaders and always try and leave little imact, but still thought it would be funny.
Definetly ought to get the Pinz's together. Is there a parade in Jackson for Memorial Day? Perhaps nose to tail them if I am not in Thermopolis fishing the big horn. I took a look at yours a few weeks ago but did not want to bother you. The first thing is that it is smaller on the outside than I expected. I wasn't expecting a duce and a half sized rig, but bigger. I really like the smaller size. The second think I noticed was how big it is on the inside. Really deciving considering how much smaller it is on the outside than I was expecting.
I already ordered seats, 12V trailer inverter, and a few other items. I am waiting to crack the carbs open to see what jets are in them. Will replace with 125's and synchronize if they are bigger. Since you are a deputy, quick question. It is supposed to be sunny and in the 50's all next week. Any chance Teton Pass will be open for trailer traffic next weekend? Need to tow the sleds to West Yellowstone for the Expo. Hell, might take the Pinz.

Iffy on the pass. "Usually" it opens the weekend of the Hill-Climb (23-25 this year), but kind of weather dependent. They raise the speed limit on 22 back to 55 same time. Just never know with WYDOT.
It sucks as many roads as there are in the back-country, most are gated-off now. I did put my opinions in with the "committee". Maintenance costs shouldn't be an issue, leave them crude and rough, just sign them as such. If they keep closing all the roads, some people will just go cross-country and cause more damage. Then they'll close more roads, etc. etc.
It's a shame the Greenies have such a grip on OUR forest around here.
I am, of course, a by-the-book guy when it comes to back country regs and all, but boy is it aggravating to see a perfectly good road beyond a closed gate that had been open for years before.
Yeah I was thinking about getting some little hiker stickers with "X' across them like WWII "kills". Or even Idaho National Labratory stenciled on it and drive around town square wearing a gas mask! Better yet, how about "INS SPECIAL RESPONSE TEAM"? A 1/4 of the town would flee in terror! But I came to same conclusion, slashed tops and tires aren't worth the laugh. I have to "sort of" behave myself given my position. That's why "TAZR" got rulled out as a license plate. With all the off road controversy going on right now, I am sure the hippies are going to love seeing not one but two Pinz's in town. There are still a few good places nearby, Gros Ventre, Greys, Green. I fish a lot and go down to Seedskadee for the weekend a good bit. This is the Green below Fontenelle damn and there is some good off road down there, but kinda high country desert.
How is yours on power at this elevation? Going to keep is as is or do you have plans for it? Since I am selling Alltrans, Inc. I need a project to keep me busy for a while. I was going to do an old 1970 Bronco, but the Pinz is just way too cool to pass up. How did you title it and do you remember what clerk you had so perhaps they are familar with it before I go in to the clerks office to do battle? How is the heat in it? I know that had to be a cold drive from Iowa in January.

I'm going to have to "spread-out" a bit. I've hit every road in Teton County.
Power seems to be about the same now (with the 125's) as it was in Iowa where I picked her up. Haven't taken her over the Teton Pass yet, that should be interesting. I want to keep it pretty stock, military looking. I want to add a 12 volt system (converter or battery divider), Line-X the interior eventually, work on some sound/thermal insulation, maybe a winch and bumper. I built up a really nice Jeep Rubicon that I'm going to sell. Put tons of stuff on it that I didn't use.
We eventually settled on calling it an SUV Passenger (it does have seats in the back after all). Make: Steyr-Puch, Model: Pinzgauer. They'll be able to pull it up in the computer. I'm sure they'll remember mine, made quite a stir. Park in the back right up against the windows, they'll notice!
Heat? What heat?? It's there, but doesn't do much but keep the windows de-fogged when it's below 15 or 20. It was a horrible drive, froze my behind off. Loud as heck too.
Can't wait to get the canvas off this summer!
