GULP!!! That's almost a "new" Pinz! Maybe after it's paid for, but right now I don't think the wife would rent that, let alone buy it. Thanks.

Anyone powder coat or paint the engine covers?

I daresay Jake goes to town on the motors, but WOW.... $12,000 US ($15,000 Aus)Jake quited my around $12,000 for the motor
When I originally put the motor together when rebuilding the Pinny I had it tanked, line bored and fully balanced so I didn't need to do so much on the bottom end when I upgraded it to 2.7 in 2002.
In 2002 I purchased the pistons and rings from the US, and locally had the balance checked again, the cylinders bored and the heads done (valve seats and guides replaced etc).
The whole 2.7 upgrade cost around $3500 Aus (I assembled it myself) and it's been running beautifully ever since!
It's not a fully worked 3.1 or 3.3 but then again it worked out a bit cheaper

My problem is I don't have a background, or probably even much apptitude for mechanical things. Much of what you all discuss may as well be Greek to me. Even the powder coating vs spray on doesn't mean a whole lot. But, 12K, wow! I had a complete do-over on my '76 Bronco's motor for about $2,200. But, I am learning a whole bunch from all of you and I appreciate it.
