Swiss Pinz's wiring diagrams are NOT in the manual, but are on a supplement sheet supplied with the trucks.
If you don't have it, go here and download a copy:
http://www.sdp-pinzgauer.org/html/swiss_schematic.html

This should be one of the first things drilled into all Pinz owners' mind...
If your truck has circuit brakers, it's a Swiss, and if it has a fuse box, it's Austrian ( or most everyone elses)... and if it don't match that.... it's someone's bastardize wiring version.

Dave Dunn......yeah, I'm feeling up to being opinionated again

Dave, I have the wiring diagram. the wire is not on the diagrams. I have the wire on the 712m 1979 and the 712m 1974 does not. I was just woundering what teh swiss would have used it for.

Where is this wire exactly...... some trucks also had a powered socket on the left rear of the truck, the same as the one behind the passenger seat. This is on the diagram, just the socket may not. Check and see if it has power all the time.
Use this pdf, it's eay to read

Its behind the one inches square to the right of the left brake light it does have power all the time. I had to remove the dome which it was stored to install the Td brake lights.

This wire has used to power the reverse lights when the reverse switch was installed on the gearbox.

From the large wire gauge size Erik gave, it was for radio use.... I had the powered socket on my old 710M radio truck.

I think dave is right if it is powered all the time. 10 gauge wire would be rated for 30 amp right? same as ac volts

Shzzz....don't say that too loud...some one might think I know something about a 710 or 12.

If you look at the reference I gave above in the wiring diagram, it gives the color and gauge of that wire too.
