pistons tolerance

Post by gunipinzmutt »

Found no infos on this matter.
What does it mean tolerance 1 (or I) or 2 (II) in pistons sizes? And KZ 1 and KZ 2?
What are manufacturer's pn for pistons?
Thanks for your help.

Tollerance 1 is 92mm piston, tollerance ll is 92.5mm piston, and tollerance 3 is 93mm piston. Pistons are available from Pinz parts suppliers, going direct to manufacturer is a pipe dream

Jim, I do not see it that way.
On spare catalogue you can find 92 mm pistons with both tollerance I and II, same with 92.5 and 93. In total 6 choices. No mention of a tollerance III.
On repair manual they advise to check tollerance nr (1 or 2).
In my opinion it is related to the connecting rod as, for this too, there are two tollerances.
In Italy there are not Pinz part suppliers and I have the code for Mahle piston of 92.5 for Pinzgauer, I intended to double check it and have the other ones related to different sizes (and tollerances).
Thanks and bye
