Great pics guys - Our snow here is generally POWDER - as we have very little moisture. In the spring and late fall you can actually build a snowman

but other than that she is pretty light and easy to get around in. You can just blow it off the windshield

I got my bumper from EI and it is AWESOME

..looks like it is supposed to come on a pinz (they real have done a nice job on it) and it bolts right on (longer bolts needed). The superwinch saved my butt the other day when we went out to see if we could get stuck...I will tell you it took alot to get stuck. Had there been no snowmobiles on this road it would have been easy but with it packed down you would go through in spots (the diff locks are amazing).

But finally we did get stuck and out came the winch and she performed like a trooper...got some of the brand new red paint off of her now

Could have used some extra cup holder for the beer though

No we don't get pissed when we are driving incase anyone's wondering. It's just nice to have a beer or whiskey at the campfires. Heck driving these rigs with arm strong steering makes you thirsty

Just hard to hold on and hold your beer in the rough stuff. I want to go back up there just to take some video

JUST A QUICK NOTE:::::Turn off the gas heater int eh rough stuff - All the bouncing around made her puke a bit and actually smoked up the cab a bit. Might have been that I didn't have the fresh air vent open too....just be cautious that's all...

Jerbear, bumpy roads can make ya waste a lot of good beer on the Pinz floor. I don't know about when it's cold, but after a day on the ranches when the temps are in the high 90s to over 100 F that iced down Coors or Bud Lite sure hits the spot as a dust cutter.

Before anyone goes ape, I never do more than two, (that's how long it takes to get to the highway gate) and never on the highway. Usually followed up with left over coffee from the AM, which will actually stay hot in an insulated cup here during the summer.

Send pics of the EI bumper install too.

Some pictures of my last outing

here is where it start.

This is how much snow there is in the wood. Believe me when I say you need good snowshoes.

This one was to show you how much snow was in this valley but we just see snow and a pretty even terrain. In the summer usually it is almost rock climbing; now it is a ride in the park.

This is one of the St-laurent river all covered with ice and the north cost.

And this one taken a while ago for Andy, just so he can enjoy beeing warm and me enjoying a nice cold morning in the woods.

Hope you liked it. It was a great day outside. And you got to see what 500 cm of snow look like.

Denis, there is just something fundamentally wrong with having sunshine and having frost in your beard and mustache. The hills and pines would really be enjoyable at about 85 F with a light breeze.

What is normal temperature for winter in Texas :?:

And again thanks for the great weather you guys sent us.

They say that most of the big storm we got this year are from Texas and the mid west.

Denis, I moved to where I am now back in 2001. We had snow that year on Nov. 28th, Last year it was mid January. That "snow" was more like frozen rain. Both snows only lasted about 3 days and that's on north facing slopes.
Where I'm at I've seen the temps drop to 23 or 24 F at night several times in December and January. I'd have to look up the actual average temps for here but it's probably in the low 40's for January.
For it to snow here everything has to be perfect. We need cold air from up north (Usually your so called Alberta clippers) and some sort of moisture coming in either from the Pacific but usually off the Gulf of Mexico.
When I lived further south there were many years where there wasn't even a frost. Spring down there is in full blossom by mid February, but that's 350 miles south and east.
Eric, actually I was pointed towards Mexico in that picture. That particular ranch is mostly on top of the canyons. Nothing too steep until you get close to the Pecos River. Then it starts looking like an old John Wayne movie.
The area has been inhabited for thousands of years. Some of the dart points I find date back over 5,000 years. But the area was also inhabited by Comanches and Apaches during the times represented in the John Wayne flicks.
It's not too hard to visualize them ambushing a stage coach or something like that.

I can't comment on Kansas or Texas as I haven't been there (yet!....but it's on my wish list), but I can tell you that Alberta and Saskatchewan could give them a run for their money in the "flatness" department!

We have a saying up here in Canada..."What do you do for three days in Saskatchewan?......Watch your dog run away!"

All kidding aside, it is humbling standing out in the middle of the prairies and realizing just how big our countries are. I have worked out at one of our largest military bases, located in Suffield, Alberta. It is thousands of square kilometers in area. When I was out in the middle of one of the ranges, I was awestruck to realize that you couldn't see anything on the surrounding horizons!

I think we sometimes take it for granted that we are lucky to have so much elbow room compared to Europe.

Heed, I can identify with that. Sometimes out on some of the larger ranches the realization strikes that there is probably not another human within 5 miles of me. The response to the thought ranges from humility (most of the time) to some sort of euphoria at being able to be there.

I can only imagine what being in the middle of the prairie miles from anything would be like. At least here there is a little more than a flat horizon.

Denis and Peter it was 41 C (106 F) here today with almost no wind. I would like to lie and say it felt good, but it was actually hot. I was going to post yesterday but it was only something like 39 C so that doesn't count.

Denis has your snow started to melt?

Ahh, 41C, I remember those days!

Cooling down here, only 17C today!

We had snow on the high hills the other week ....I might be able to post some snow pics in the next few months, but nothing like those posted on this thread.
Most people will probably think our snow conditions/depth etc is pretty weak
