running a 12v winch off of the 24v system

Post by audiocontr »

II'm nervous that running a cheapie 12v winch off of a 24v electrical system will fry the unit pretty quick. In lieu of swapping out solenoids, is it advisable to run the 12v winch off of the rear battery if i have a 20 amp 24-12v equalizer? Would it be best to leave the unit physically disconnected inside the battery compartment and only connect when in need?

Sell 12 volt winch and replace with 24 volt would be best bet.

A cheapie winch is exactly that... buy a good 24v winch. Last thing you need is to have a winch fail when you need it most.
