headlights one is dim ,already checked/cleaned the ground.

one of my headlights barely comes on and the other one works perfectly i have the kind with the little bulb on the inside
I already cleaned all the ground wires and its still not working i even tried another wiring set i had from my other truck .
On the bad side the light barely comes on and the little light doesn't work at all ,when i put the high beams on it shuts off completely????
how do i test this? i don't have a voltmeter but if i did what do i need to look for ?? thanks guys.

Check voltage and resistance

When you get the wiring figured out buy two new bulbs, replace both fronts and keep the good one that you
take out as a spare. I had a very nice highway patrolman in NM stop and ask if I knew my right front light
was out. Of course I did not but if I had a spare I could have fixed it there on the spot.
I now keep a spare at all times. Even keep spare tail light bulbs, hard to see a pinz from the rear at night.

i already tried it with a new bulb , same dim light. im thinking about getting a voltmeter tomorrow and testing it .

yeah get a voltmeter it will always come in handy, im thinking that maybe your power is being slightly grounded somewhere down the line could be the light housing have you tried switching the light housing from one side to the other?

Is this on the Pinz you recently changed the 3-way headlight plug on? Any chance it's a bad plug?

yes i bought two new 3way plugs from a local shop so i dont think its that.

I bought an expensive volt meter from Radio Shack, thought...why not get into at least the 20th century.
My old one, that I had for 25 years (with dial and needle readout) just quit. Had to take the digital one
back (really had trouble with the learning curve) and get an inexpensive one like my old one...now I'm
good. It even has a beep to test for continuity.
Very handy tool.

didn't work on my headlights today instead i worked on the doors and taillights and of course the taillights are wacky too the turn signals work but that's about it.
