Profiles

Post by kpoling »

This is a comment, not a rant. There seems to be more & more people on this site who do not fill out any of their Real 4x4 profile. So when they ask a question that for instance may be regional, but do not say where they are located, I look on their profile & it is blank. :?: It would be helpful if they at least said their general location or even country.

I have been a little annoyed with this too. That's why I added the "FILL OUT YOUR PROFILE" thing at the top of the site though no one seems to bother and I can't imagine why. I am still dealing with fake accounts and spam, even with the Pinz specific question added to the registration process, though it has cut it way down from before and is working well overall. Filling out even very basic info would help me to clear out spammers quicker and help everyone a little.

Hey "Finched", I smell spam. Convince me (quickly) that you aren't, or....

Hi Vince: Will the software let you require that the profile be filled out? I guess they could still put in spam. Maybe a lost cause............

Bye bye spammer. That one was almost "clever".

I recently added a new sign-up question that rotates which stopped the latest influx of these pieces of crap. I'd love to force people to fill that thing out before getting in. If I can figure it out, it will become 100% mandatory for all fields... I'm tired of people not doing it and there's no reason at all to skip it.
