A hello frm donny

Post by sixbennetts »

Hi folks. Donny wants me to drop in and tell you he's sorry he hasn't been around much to participate on the forum. He had another operation to remove another small section of his tumor and is recovering.

He also wants me to give everyone a heads up that we might have to sell our tgb truck because of a problem with the disability insurance company. As per Vince's instructions, I should say this is not a sell thread, just a heads up to you guys here to say thanks for all the help you've given as we've worked on it.

And I say, I HATE insurance companies!

Hey guys, I'm back. I appreciate the kind words, too, thanks. I hope we don't have to sell it. It's been my dream for a long time, but if it's a choice between keeping our house and food on the table, it'll have to go.

Our plan was to convert it into a camper for this upcoming season, (which might be my last). We planned to travel all over the Northeast US and Eastern Canada. Mostly secondary roads, some highway, and a lot of old dirt and logging roads. Also visiting friends and family, so maybe some yard or campground stays, but not many if we can help it.

If we do have sell, I'll post it here first. Pray we don't have to. I already had to give up one dream because of cancer, (I get seasick now just walking on a floating dock), I think giving up another one will kill me quicker than the cancer will.

Funny you mentioned actually driving it! I finally said screw it, threw caution to the wind, took the plates off our family van, and took it for a ride. I've been out of work for so long now, we haven't had the money to register it, (which includes paying the 8% tax). So I've been just puttering around it when I'm strong enough to do so, paint, installing stuff, etc. It's been KILLING me looking out the window at it!

Ahhhgggghhh!

So I swapped plates, drove it a mile or two to the local dirt road /sand pits, and finally, FINALLY, got to drive it around a while!

I've driven many trucks in my life, but none like this. It's perfect. I really hope I can keep it. It's been a long rough road to get to this long rough road.
